„Made in Solingen“:
The history
of our chef’s knives
Our historical excursion begins back in the 13th century in Germany, in the city of Solingen, because it is not for nothing that Solingen is still the city of blades and “Made in Germany” is the seal of high quality workmanship.
The city of blades – home of our knives
But why Solingen in particular? With its rivers and streams and access to forests and charcoal, Solingen offered ideal conditions for the blacksmith’s trade. Goods could also be easily transported on the Wupper. However, the most important resource that Solingen benefited from was and still is the craftsmanship that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Me fecit Solingen – Solingen made me
Over the centuries, Solingen has become synonymous with high-quality blades and has remained so into the 21st century. It was not until 2012 that the city was officially named “City of Blades”.
Our German workmanship „Made in Germany“
“Made in Germany” enjoys a high international reputation and stands for high quality all over the world. The seal means that the goods have been manufactured according to German quality standards and the customer can therefore be sure of buying a high-quality and first-class product, which is why “Made in Germany” is one of the seals of quality in which many consumers place their trust – and quite rightly so.
That’s why you can also be sure of receiving the best quality and an exquisite design from Germancut, because all our products are “Made in Germany” and German quality workmanship from Solingen.
Our chef’s knives and kitchen knives – German craftsmanship
Our kitchen knives meet the highest German quality standards and are also true beauties. You will notice this as soon as you hold one of our knives in your hand. The ergonomically shaped handle is incredibly comfortable to hold and is in perfect balance with the blade. The design and performance of the knives form a flawless harmony.
With our MEATLOVER chef’s knife, you can give food the respect it deserves and create perfect cuts. The possible Diamond-Like-Carbon coating gives the chef’s knife an incredible sharpness and a very special look – the black blade is a real eye-catcher and the distinguishing feature of DLC-coated knives. The deep black bog oak handle enhances the chef’s knife or creates a wonderful contrast with light olive.
DThe BREADLOVER is the ideal bread knife, thanks to the serrated edge sharpened on both sides, the knife glides through any bread. And not only bread crusts are easy for our BREADLOVER, even hard fruit and vegetable peels are no problem for the Germancut bread knife. You can also choose between bog oak and olive for our BREADLOVER, and the knife is also available with or without a DLC finish.
By the way: Did you know that the typical serrated edge of the bread knife is a Solingen invention?
Our cutlery – quality workmanship from Germany
All our cutlery is named after great German personalities: T. FONTANE, J. S. BACH, T. STORM, H. HEINE, F. SCHILLER and W. BUSCH. Our cutlery conjures up true poetry on your table with its beautiful decoration, its modern minimalism or its eye-catching and classic ornamentation, because they too are genuine German masterpieces. Each individual cutlery set not only impresses with its appearance, but also with its practicality and manufacture – for example, all the knives in our cutlery sets are wooden-handled knives and those in the H. HEINE set are steel-handled knives, so they are particularly sharp and remain so.
